Differentiation is the key to creating new opportunities. As competition remains fierce, the only way to stand out is to do things differently, better, and more efficiently than anyone else. Differentiation requires you to apply outside-the-box thinking in order to solve everyday challenges. Differentiation requires that you challenge the way you have done everything in the past and re-think it with a new perspective. This will likely require a disciplined approach, because we often find ourselves too busy to properly analyze a process, finding it easier to conform to the way we have done things before. As stressed as we may be, however, we should always find time to consider whether or not the status quo is still the best approach.
You should constantly be asking yourself: What new technologies have been introduced into the market that could enhance my processes and improve my business? As technologies continue to evolve, and companies continue to innovate and create new products, it is essential that we keep an eye open for what is truly new and exciting! Having an open mind to new technologies and new ways of doing things is really the first step in differentiating yourself or your company. Developing and executing a strategy for implementing a new technology is what will really propel your business and differentiate yourself from everyone else.
